This information has been officially confirmed by Mr. David Cunningham, President of Asia – Pacific FedEx to Mr. Dao Quang Thu, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment.
“FedEx has submitted to the authorities to set up a 100% foreign owned enterprise in Vietnam and hope that the Vietnamese Government will facilitate and support our plan,” Mr. Cunningham said.
In fact, before joining the World Trade Organization (WTO), Vietnam has opened the door for foreign investors to participate in provide shipping and logistics service. Soon after that, the world’s leading shipping and logistic companies, such as FedEx, DHL, TNT, UPS were present in Vietnam through joint ventures with local partners.
The presence of the world’s leading express shipping providers in Vietnam is said to be derived from the attractiveness of rapid economic growth and foreign investors as well as Vietnamese companies are continue to increase their production, import and export activities.
