According to ABC news, Nina Pham, a nursing staff of Dallas, US has been infected with virus Ebola while treated for a Liberian man Thomas Eric Duncan. Duncan brough Ebola to US and died at Presbyterian Dallas Hospital last week. Nina Pham of 26 years old is a daughter of immigrants from Vietnam.
BBC news reported that the Ebola outbreak in West Africa is the world’s deadliest to date with more than 4,600 people died of the virus this year 2014. The Ebola virus spread between humans by direct contact with infected bloods, bodily fluids or organs, or indirectly through contact with contaminated environments.
Vietnam State agencies have been in high alert and propsed increasing methods to stop Ebola virus in Vietnam. The Vietnam Department of Labour Abroad, Vietnam Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the administrative state management of Vietnam workers abroad have requested Vietnam enterprises providing Vietnamese workers in foreign countries, especially in Africa to have plans, including repatriation to protect the Vietnamese workers.
Over the last two months, the Vietnam General Department of Preventive Medicine has reported more than 270 people arriving Vietnam from infected countries in Africa. No one has been reported to be infected with Ebola in Vietnam. In Sep 2014, the Vietnam Ministry of Health has organized conference in Vietnam with representatives of Vietnam Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism, Ministry of Information and Communication to provide information and requested for coordination from different State agencies to prepare effective preventive methods to stop Ebola in Vietnam.
International passengers passing through Tan Son Nhat, Noi Bai and Da Nang airports will be screened by thermal scanners for signs of Ebola before entering Vietnam.
