Korean President Visits Hanoi

President Moon Jae-in and his wife plan to arrive at Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi) on March 22nd, starting their Vietnam visit lasting until March 24th.

Shortly after arriving in Hanoi, the President of the Republic of Korea and his wife plan to have a meeting with the head coach and players of U23 Vietnam football team, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam. The official reception of President Moon Jae-in chaired by Vietnam President Tran Dai Quang, which took place on the morning of March 23rd.

The visit of the Korean leaders took place in the context of the strategic cooperation partnership between the two countries is actively developing. In the first two months of 2018, the bilateral trade reached 9.6 billion USD.

Vietnam is the fourth largest investment destination of Korea, after China, Hong Kong and the United States. In the first two months of 2018, Korea had a total investment of nearly 244 million USD, second only to Singapore. Vietnam is Korea’s largest recipient of aid, with many forms such as ODA, grant aid and technical assistance. Regarding labor cooperation, Korea is Vietnam’s second largest labor import market, after China. Vietnam currently has about 50,000 employees working in Korea.

During the three-day visit to Vietnam, the President of Korea and the President of Vietnam will talk, visit the house of Uncle Ho, witness the signing ceremony. President Moon will greet General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, meeting Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. Korean leaders also attended the business forum of the two countries, attending the ground-breaking ceremony of the Vietnam – Korea Institute of Science and Technology in Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park.
